Hi, I’m Katya — The Hands Behind the History

I’ve always believed that the most beautiful things in a home are the ones that have a story to tell. My journey into creating shadowboxes began with a simple fascination for the "forgotten" — the delicate lace, the weathered textures of vintage packaging, and the tiny artifacts that usually get tucked away in a drawer.

In my studio, I bring those stories back to life. Whether it’s a piece of mid-century Tintex packaging or a hand-wound spool of thread, I see each shadowbox as a way to preserve a moment in time. My shadowbox work is a celebration of texture, nostalgia, and the art of the handmade.

When it is not shadowboxes, I paint emotions as organic forms and portraits that explore the hidden depths of the human soul - and each piece contains a part of my own story and my own soul.

Why I Create

I don't just want to make decor; I want to create focal points that make you stop and look closer. Seeing my art styled in a home—much like the settings in the shadowboxes or paintings you see here on my website—is my ultimate goal. I want to provide you with that "one-of-a-kind" piece that finally makes your favorite corner feel complete.

Beyond the Frame

When I’m not painting, layering lace and arranging ephemera, you can usually find me hunting through antique shops or sketching out new ideas for commissions. I’m a firm believer that art should be tactile, personal, and a little bit magical.

Fun Facts About Me

I was born in Crimea, Ukraine during the Perestroika time. 

I moved to the USA at 13 without any knowledge of the English language.

I wrote my first poem/song at the age of seven when it was raining and I wanted the rain to stop so I could go play outside with my friends.

My artworks are all intuitive and subconsciously express my inner world at the moment of creation.
